We’ve all heard the phrase, there’s an app for that and increasingly, we think it may just be true! If like us, you like to stay on top of app industry news and headlines in order to perform at your best when taking up our mobile app business opportunity , you’ll probably find yourself reading at least a couple of news articles each week which reveal an innovative new app or, tell of an app solving real world problems.
A couple of weeks ago for example, we had this story of the UK government launching a duo of dedicated new apps designed to help students make important decisions regarding further education and before that, the tongue-in-cheek dating app for cows that actually serves a real purpose for farmers. This week, we have even more creative app designs to add to this stockpile…
1. Air Matters
The Air Matters app monitors pollution levels in cities around the world, using data from a range of sources including DEFRA. On the day after Easter Monday, its monitoring of pollution levels in the capital saw it issue an alert to all Londoners, advising them to keep windows closed, keep children indoors, avoid outdoor activities and wear a mask outside.
The app provides users with recommendations designed to protect their health against the effects of pollution when data indicates a certain level has been breached. In some parts of the city, pollution is five times higher than the EU limit. The Met Office says this is due to high pressure, a lack of wind and rising temperatures.
2. Beyou
At least once a month we read about a new map which is the Uber of [insert industry]. While some fall flat, others really do offer the same levels of convenience and this time around, Beyou is in the spotlight. This beauty app aims to bring on-demand beauty services direct to the home, giving users access to make-up artists when needed – a service that might previously have been reserved for A-listers and celebs.
3. Byte
Now, we don’t know too much about this app as yet but we do know this; Byte is the brand new vision of Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann. Like Vine, which was purchased by Twitter and subsequently closed its doors, Byte is a new looping-video app. It’s been a long time in development and Hofmann has only released a few teasers about what’s to come but developers this week invited the first 100 beta testers to help it catch bugs and give feedback on design. When it previously issued a call for beta testers back in December, over 500 people signed up in under a minute. Watch this space!
