Launching a new product or service for a business can be an exciting yet daunting task. Whether it’s a revolutionary gadget that changes the way we do everyday tasks or a mobile app designed to engage with your customers on a daily basis, getting the launch process right first time is vital in ensuring success.

With so many factors to consider, many business owners are failing in getting the message across and launching their product in the right way. With that being said, the focus of todays blog is to highlight some of the essential elements needed to launch any new product or service. Let’s get started…

• Identify your buyers – right from the outset it is important for you to identify your potential customers and build up a picture of what they want. By having in-depth knowledge of your customers’ needs you are better placed to service those requirements.

• Categorise your buyer’s journey – one of the key questions that you should ask yourself is “what are the typical steps that your buyers take on the path from knowing little about your product/service to becoming a customer?” You should choose your content and strategy based on what you know about your typical buyer’s journey.

• Use social networking to do research – most businesses have a dedicated Facebook page, Twitter feed and YouTube channel; why not use these to your advantage? By using existing customers that have connected with your business on social media, you can run small focus groups and get an early indication of whether you are on the right lines.

• Create a launch document – one of the best ways to articulate your message is to put it in writing from the outset. Create a document that clearly describes the features of your new product/service. What benefits will you provide the user? How is your product/service different from the competition? If you can answer these questions your message will be much clearer when you launch.

• Create interactive content online – educate prospective customers about your new product/service on your website. Videos, infographics and web pages all help explain your latest offering to people browsing your website.

• Make your launch customer focused – many businesses make a fundamental error when launching a new product/service by focusing exclusively on prospects and neglecting their existing customers. A successful launch will have equal emphasis on existing customers as well as attracting new customers, thus increasing your revenue stream.

By considering some of the points raised above, your business will be better placed to launch a new product/service into the market place. To find out how you can help businesses launch their latest mobile app and join the app revolution, please contact us today.
