Fundamental Guide to Starting Out in Young Entrepreneurship
Rebecca Appleton • 21 January 2020
It’s tough out there and while we live in a society of young generations who feel empowered and to an extent even entitled, the popularity of entrepreneurship doesn’t come without a need to have the fundamental mentality required to succeed.

Just because you feel like you could be an entrepreneur doesn’t mean you have what it takes. There are some lessons you’ll inevitably have to learn if you’re going to stand any chance of succeeding in that kind of lifestyle and career choice.
There is a particular mental fortitude required and a fundamental mindset that any young entrepreneur will need to either possess or come to attain through hard learning if they’re going to go the distance. One of these occurs right at the very beginning.
The Ability to Accept Your Starting Position
Sense of entitlement or not, the younger generation of entrepreneurs will still have the same realisation very soon after they start their journey. You have to start from nothing.
Nothing seems a little negative, obviously there is something to be said for drive, determination, discipline etc. All traits which you may already have and will serve you well. But the first steps of any journey are always the hardest and the longest. The early struggles for many young entrepreneurs centre on accepting where they fit into the broader spectrum. That could be in terms of industry, it could be in terms of personal knowledge, it could be in terms of wealth and achievement, it could be many things. But the hard part is seeing and accepting you are at step one of what is going to be a very tough road.
You’re going to of course be looking at the end result you’re striving for and you’re going to realise how very far away from it you are. This is a daunting feeling. You’re also going to compare yourself to the major players and existing successful individuals and brands in your particular space, unsure of where and how you are going to fit in or even begin to tackle the space in front of you.
We’ve used the term ‘accept’ a lot already and with good reason. The key to overcoming the fear of getting started from the very beginning is accepting you’re at the very beginning and through this mentality learning not to judge yourself or compare yourself by the standards and achievements of others but instead take each day as it comes finding success in small progression. Everyone starts somewhere and the start seldom looks or feels glamourous.
Remember that you are your own success story and the start is exactly that, the start. So attack it with confidence and continue to improve rather than allowing yourself to be discouraged or disheartened by the grandeur of the broader task ahead.

In a world where digital transformation is no longer optional, local businesses are turning to digital agencies for everything from websites and SEO to mobile apps and social media marketing. For entrepreneurs launching their own agency, the ability to scale remotely opens up exciting possibilities: lower overheads, location freedom, and a broader client base. But how do you actually scale a local digital agency, especially if you’re starting out solo and working from home? The answer lies in systems, strategy, and smart service design.

Starting a business on your own can be one of the most exciting and isolating journeys you’ll ever take. While the freedom and flexibility are huge advantages, going solo often comes with unexpected challenges: Who do you bounce ideas off? Who keeps you accountable? What do you do when motivation dips? That’s where mastermind sessions come in and why they’ve become one of the most powerful tools for entrepreneurial growth.
