How AI is changing web design

Ilya Nasedkin • 19 June 2018

It seems like artificial intelligence (AI) is influencing every sector and web design is no different. It’s already beginning to have an impact and drive the direction for future trends, as the tech continues to grow and we come up with even more creative applications, expect its influence on web design to become even greater. There are lots of ways that AI can positively impact AI and the list of applications it can be used for is rapidly growing. Not convinced that AI will soon be a core part of the web design process? Check out these three ways that artificial intelligence is already changing the way the websites are designed

1. Personalisation Personalisation has been growing in popularity, with businesses altering email campaigns and PPC content to match customer segments. Now imagine if you could do that with your website on an individual level. You’ll be able to create personalised web experiences to improve conversion rates based on what each customer wants, likes, and responds too. Customers already want a personal experience when they shop in store and it won’t take long before personalised online shopping experiences become expected too. 2. Customer service You might already use technology in some form to facilitate customer communication through your website but at the moment it has limited capabilities. Chatbots, for example, can currently only operate within a restrictive set of parameters and doesn’t understand the customer. Throw AI into the mix and communication will see far more natural, with the AI able to recognise and respond to human cues to boost the customer service you offer online. 3. Marketing Savvy businesses are already planning on how they integrate AI with other trends, such as big data, to give them an edge over competitors. Marketing is going to be a critical way where AI can really add value, especially when it’s combined with both historic and live data. It’ll allow you make far more accurate predictions on customer behaviour, allowing you to create highly targeted campaigns that achieve significantly improved results.Of course, what AI is capable of now is just the tip of the iceberg. Adoption of acritical intelligence, along with machine learning, is picking up fast and a decade from now we’ll likely be exploring ways of using AI in web design that we haven’t even contemplated yet.
