Get more likes, followers and engagement

Getting followers, likes, engagement and traffic from social media can be difficult – but it’s especially hard on Instagram, thanks to a tough algorithm and the sheer volume of competition. The rewards for growing your presence and building your follower list are numerous however, and can see you generating more leads and sales directly from the platform.
Here, we’ve outlined a few ways that you can elevate your Instagram presence and make it a worthwhile part of your marketing efforts…
1. Get your content prepped in advance
Consistency is key to growing your Instagram following and that means planning ahead. Create a content calendar and stick to it – this will ensure you post regularly and means that you won’t miss an opportunity for on-trend content. There are a million and one quirky ‘social media holidays’ such as National Peanut Butter Day which offer the opportunity to push out fun content to engage your followers. Planning in advance also means that you can prepare your best content for other important days such as Black Friday or Valentine’s Day ahead of time, rather than rushing it on the day and posting up something lacklustre.
2. Try filters and pre-sets to up content quality
Instagram is all about the visual so, you’ll also need to commit to sharing good quality images. In addition to investing in a proper camera (and learning how to use it!) experiment with different filters and pre-sets. Pre-sets are an easy way to elevate your content – if you are new to them, a pre-set is essentially a series of photo edit settings which have been prepped for you. You simply click a button and your photo is edited to that style for you so you don’t have to spend ages manually adjusting details such as the light or saturation levels. Another bonus to this is that your feed will look consistent and more polished.
3. Be active
Social media is about being social – and to get others to follow you, you need to give something in return. Commenting on other images, liking other posts and following other accounts are tried and tested ways of building your profile. These actions make you more visible as each time you comment, you’re leaving a trail back to your own profile.
The discover feed is a good place to start sourcing new profiles to follow and images to comment on but, you can also be a little more strategic and type your most important or relevant hashtags into the search bar and then work through some of the images which appear in the grid.
4. Pair up with others for competitions
A popular tactic used by influencers is to pair up with other parties and host a competition. Joining forces with other accounts to host the competition is a great way to boost your visibility as it means you’ll gain a presence on other profiles, exposing you to all of the other participant’s followers.
