However, with so much content being produced, it can be hard to make your own creations stand out.
So what can you do?
Many marketers say they plan to explore different types of content campaigns such as podcasts and audio to connect with their customers and web visitors in 2020. Here’s a few of our suggestions to help you get ahead of this trend with some new approaches to content you can deploy right now…
1. Add a podcast to your marketing plan
We’ve seen lots of brands adding podcasts to their marketing over the last year or so – and if you haven’t yet joined them, now is the time. 9 in 10 marketers told eMarketer that this was an area they definitely planned to invest more time and resources on so, if you don’t join them, you could be leaving the door wide open for your competitors to wow your potential customers instead.
Podcasts are simply audio recordings and don’t need lots of fancy or expensive equipment to get right, though a good microphone is a worthwhile investment once you find your feet with this content format.
Google figures show that searches for podcasts are also on the up so you can be comfortable that consumer demand for this style of content exists. To help your podcast stand out, define your niche and search out some interesting and entertaining guests to join you on a few of your episodes.
2. Live stream
This is another content type that is already enormously popular but one that many brands feel a little intimidated by. The easiest way to get started is by using Stories and Go Live on social networks like Facebook and Instagram or YouTube. These tend to be informal and don’t require expensive camera equipment and editing software – just use your existing smartphone. Of course, you can take things a step further as you become more confident and build up your following but it isn’t necessary right away. Get started by hosting a question and answer session or meet the team live stream.
3. Use AR
Google has already tipped AR to be one of the top 10 marketing trends of 2020 so it’s well worth exploring what you can do in this area sooner rather than later. Again, AR is one of those terms that can be off putting, especially for brands who haven’t yet fully found their feet and confidence with traditional content marketing.
Apps like SnapChat have started to add AR capability and there are other plug ins and downloads you can access to add AR filters or AR lenses to your creations quickly and easily. Experiment with some of these to create AR visuals to use on your social media profiles.
