When you have a packed daily schedule full of client meetings, sales calls, business pitches and more, it can be all too easy to put your health on the backburner.
If you regularly miss breakfast, get out of bed late, and don’t make time to reflect on the day ahead, our tips for a consistent morning routine that will put you in the right headspace for work can be endlessly beneficial.
Step 1 - Wake up early
Pressing the snooze button in the morning is nearly as synonymous with weekday starts as the inevitable rush hour. But it doesn’t always have to ring true.
While there are plenty of successful people out there that aren’t early risers, it stands to reason that you’ll be more prepared to tackle the working day head on if you are more prepared.
Richard Branson famously commented on the benefits of waking early, “I’m able to do some exercise and spend time with my family, which puts me in a great mind frame before getting down to business.”
Step 2 - Exercise
For budding entrepreneurs, exercise can have a wide range of benefits for both body and mind.
Not only does going for a walk or run around the block release those all-important endorphins which help you feel positive and relaxed, the additional thinking time out in the fresh air can also provide a whole new perspective on workplace issues.
As little as 20 minutes of exercise each day works wonders for keeping energy levels high when facing a long day in the office or working remotely, while you may also find memory recall and brainstorming a little easier.
Step 3 - Plan your day
There’s nothing worse than arriving at the office unprepared. Whether it’s while you’re in the shower, sitting at the breakfast table, or brushing your teeth - you can still find time to plan out what you need to get done without having to set aside lots of precious time to do so.
This should free up the rest of your day to write up those reports, attend ideation sessions and send out those invoices without any of it taking you by surprise.
Step 4 - Eat a healthy breakfast
Often the first thing that business people remove from their morning ritual is actually one of the most important.
Rather than grabbing coffee or a snack on the way into work, take time to make some cereal, grab some fruit, or even prepare some veg and protein (providing you’ve woken up early enough!) with a smoothie - you’ll soon notice the difference when your stomach isn’t crying out for food before your lunch break.
