Creating an ultra successful app is the dream of any app developer or any entrepreneur taking the first steps with our mobile app business opportunity – so the top 10 best apps of the year should provide ample inspiration! Lifehacker has just published its annual list of the year’s top 10 Android apps, so let’s dive in and see what did (and didn’t) make the grade…
Gmail and Outlook
If you can’t imagine being without your email when on the go, both Gmail and Outlook made the top 10 Android apps list thanks to their productivity potential. Both are free to use with Gmail including everything you expect from the web service and Outlook being a bit more sophisticated with tools such as a Focused Inbox to display only the more important messages.
Business Calendar 2 and Google Calendar
Having a calendar on your smartphone is invaluable but, if you want something a bit more sophisticated, both Business Calendar 2 and Google Calendar have been named top Android apps for 2018. Google Calendar is entirely free to use and can be synced with Gmail. Business Calendar 2 has free and paid options and lots of customisation potential.
Notes
Several apps made the top 10 list in the Notes category, with the frontrunners being Microsoft OneNote, Google Keep, Simplenote, Todoist and Zoho Notebook.
OneDrive, Dropbox, Google One, Amazon Drive
There is nothing more frustrating when you’re trying to run a business than not having access to the files you need when you’re out and about. There are dozens of cloud storage apps around which promise to solve this problem but, OneDrive, Dropbox, Amazon Drive and Google One are the cream of the crop this year.
Pocket and Instapaper
There’s lots to recommend an easy bookmarking tool – and if you’ve ever been frustrated by not being able to find an article or blog you glanced over intending to come back to later, Pocket and Instapaper should be next on your app downloads list. Both are free but with paid additions.
Best two factor authentication app
Authy was named the best two factor authentication app thanks to its superior design and useful features. You can use this app to fingerprint lock, protecting your data and passwords from prying eyes.
Chrome and Firefox
It’s no surprise that Google Chrome should top the list of best Android web browsers. Pre-installed on most if not all Android devices, it’s free to use and popular with users. Firefox is also worth considering if you can’t get along with Chrome, it’s also free to use and was named a top 10 Android app in this year’s run down.
