Apple’s launch event as expected gave us the intricate details of the anticipated iPhone 11. The new flagship product from Apple comes in three varieties, the iPhone 11 (basic), the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Max. In the UK, the two top end phones will cost £1,049 and £1,149 respectively. This £50 increase year-on-year compared with previous models makes these devices the most expensive iPhones yet. The pricing in the UK has traditionally been offset by the power of the pound but in recent years, this has not been the case. This year particularly, the lingering Brexit toll on the pound means that it is considerably weaker.
The basic iPhone 11 looks to be missing many of the big selling features of the Pro and Max editions and will all in all be there for the basic iPhone user to feel like they’re up to date without breaking the bank.
So, what are the highlights of the most expensive iPhone to date?
All About the Camera
After lagging behind its competitors including Samsung and Huawei who both lead the pack in terms of camera quality and functionality, Apple has finally adopted the 3-camera system. The new devices will have amain 12-megapixel lens, an ultrawide angle 13-megapixel lens and a telephoto lens.
Huawei had huge success in the UK (and pretty much across the globe) with its handset the P30 Pro. This success was largely down to the popularity of the camera and after photo edit software. So, we know already in a social media ruled society of bloggers and Instagrammers just how important camera advancements are when it comes to selling phones.
Alongside the additional and improved cameras is a software functionality called Deep Fusion. We understand the camera will take nine images back to back and using computer learning, isolate the best and clearest features from all 9 snaps to create one polished image.
Battery Improvements
The new Pro and Max editions of the iPhone 11 have promised to have 4 and 5 hour extra battery life respectively over last season’s models. This is a big step forward if it’s true, given that iPhones have been hugely criticised versus other smartphone models in the past for short battery lifespan.
HD Video Capture
HD video capture will be available on both the front facing and rear cameras. The Pro and Max editions will also allow for slow motion video capture on the front facing camera. Giving birth to the latest in digital terminology, the ‘Slowfie’.
