With the mobile industry gathering pace at a phenomenal rate, now is a good time to ask yourself how mobile technology is changing your everyday life? On first glance, everything may appear to be the same and you may argue that mobile technology has not really touched your life in a significant way. However, scratch beneath the surface and examine your daily routine a little closer and you will find that mobile technology is a big part of most people’s lives around the globe. The focus of today’s blog is to highlight this trend, so let’s get moving…

Most people’s lives can be categorised into two broad groups, namely your work life and your personal life. Examining both areas can highlight just how important mobile technology is to our life.

• Work life
Think of your morning commute to work, aside from the rush hour traffic what do you see? People from all walks of life interacting on their mobile device. Whether it is the health conscious individual jogging with headphones in his ear to a school kid playing the latest game on his smartphone device, we are all interacting with our smartphones.

While at work, mobile technology has revolutionised how many businesses are now operating. For example, tablets have allowed field sales workers to feedback real time information to the office. Moreover, large computer operating systems such as Windows 8 are now built around mobile first. This shift in focus and attention is due to the rapid advancements in mobile technology.

• Personal life
Our personal lives have been impacted by mobile technology and it has truly changed our daily routines. For example, many people now grab their mobile device as soon as they wake up to check social media websites like Facebook or get up to speed with the latest developments by visiting the BBC for instance. Added to this, increasingly large numbers of people surf the internet on their mobile devices last thing before they go to sleep at night. Furthermore, we have seen the popularity of e-books rising and mobile technology is a big driving force behind that.

Away from the bedroom, mobile technology has changed the landscape in terms of how we consume information on the move, for example comparing prices in a store before making a purchase. The increase in m-commerce has surpassed expectations and we are now confident in making purchases using our mobile devices.
As seen above, mobile technology is changing the way we all behave. With most business owners also realising this trend, now is the time to help the modern day business leverage mobile technology to connect with their customers.
