Facebook is among a number of app developers expanding into the business sector with new digital products. One of the social media giant’s latest releases is the official launch of its workplace apps. Read on to find out why they are now out of beta and why Workplace is predicted to be so successful.
It wasn’t too long ago that Facebook released Workplace, a social media platform designed specifically for use among professionals and businesses. The app is designed to improve interdepartmental communication, streamline general work practices and increase morale through an interactive social media platform. Much like Facebook, the app is based on the sharing of information, however, it was created with specific features that cater to the needs of business professionals.
The reason Workplace has become so popular is thanks to the unique features thought up by the developers at Facebook which allow companies to streamline communication and more closely monitor performance and productivity. In-app document sharing allows companies to digitally store and catalogue all information easily while making it accessible to all necessary members of staff. Task setting and performance monitoring features allow managers to assign work instantly and check the progress of ongoing projects.
The latest addition to the Workplace family of apps is Workplace Chat. This is essentially the equivalent of the Facebook Messenger app in that it is a stand-alone product that offers a more in-depth version of the already existing chat feature on Workplace. Users are able to interact instantly with colleagues through chat personal and public chat windows. The app also features group video chat which allows for seamless video conference calls.
Facebook is looking to create a complete experience for Workplace users by designing the app to work seamlessly across multiple platforms. This means that those with the app installed can access their account at any time whether they’re at their desk or out meeting a client.
While the basic version of Workplace is free, Facebook offers a premium version costs $3 and offers a whole host of extra features including monitoring tools and email support. This is a great example of effective in-app purchasing. Facebook is maximising download figures and increasing consumer engagement while offering optional extras that can boost revenue streams even further.
The new app is still fresh on the market so time will tell whether or not it will take off as rapidly as Facebook but there is a lot to be learned by developers from the unique features included in Workplace.
