As one of our entrepreneurs considering or already up and running with the Eazi-Apps mobile app agency business opportunity, you’ll need no convincing on the usefulness and relevance of mobile apps!
The current coronavirus disruption has really highlighted just how useful apps are across a range of different needs so, to help you stock your smartphone and tablet with all of the apps you’ll need to see you and your loved ones through this period, here are some of our top recommendations for apps to help you stay happy, healthy and productive over the next few weeks…
Productivity
Zoom, Facetime and Basecamp
As an entrepreneur it’s likely that you’ll still be working during this time, but it may be that your daily routine has been impacted. That could be because you have found yourself working from home instead of your usual office space or, because you need to juggle child care with your work as schools shut down.
There are lots of apps that can help you work productively during this time but a few of our favourites are Zoom, Facetime and Basecamp.
• Zoom
allows you to conduct all of your scheduled meetings and calls, with conference call and video call facilities. You can sign up for a free option, schedule meetings and send invites, all without having to set foot outside.
• Facetime
is also useful for keeping connected with colleagues, which can help to reduce feelings of isolation and recreate the social aspect of being in the office (this is also a great app to check in with family and friends you can’t physically visit during this time).
• Basecamp
is great for staying organised and collaborating with your team. With to do lists, messages, assignments, deadlines, a calendar and file storage, you can keep all of your projects moving forwards without needing to be in the same location as others working on the project with you.
Healthy
Headspace, Planet Fitness, YouTube
Us entrepreneurs will often find that maintaining a work-life balance can become a bit of a struggle. If you are working remotely, this is the ideal time to reset and introduce some balance into your day. Again there are lots of apps that can help here but a few of our favourites are Headspace, Planet Fitness and YouTube.
• Headspace
is a meditation app. With mental health just as important as your physical wellbeing especially during these testing times, incorporating this into your day can help to offset feelings of stress of anxiety. It has lots of free guided meditations which you can follow along with sleep exercises.
• Planet Fitness
is your at-home PT without having to step foot outside. With many fitness centres across the country closing and workout classes being cancelled, working out at home is becoming increasingly popular. This app offers a wide range of workouts at no cost which can be performed at home. You can also follow live interactive classes on its Facebook page each day.
• YouTube
is a treasure trove of fitness classes with free videos for almost every time of activity from kettle bell workouts to bodyweight, yoga to pilates. The Body Coach Joe Wickes is currently hosting free 30-minute classes on his YouTube page, live at 9am every day Monday to Friday. He also has hundreds of videos on his channel and plenty of dedicated classes for kids.
Happy
Netflix, Scribd, Babbel
A period of isolation and changes to how you socialise doesn’t mean you have to entirely give up on your favourite things to do. There are lots of apps to keep your entertained, with a few of our favourites being Netflix, Scribd and Babbel.
• Netflix
needs no introduction but, if you don’t yet have the app you can start with a free trial. It is fully loaded with thousands of movies, box sets and documentaries from around the world. If you’re away from friends and family, you can also download a second app called Netflix Party and have a watch party in different locations. Head to social media for recommendations as thousands of people have been sharing their binge-worthy lists for Netflix and Amazon Prime.
• Scribd
has thousands of ebooks, magazines and audio books and is offering 30 days free to help get people through this period. If you’re a big book worm or always wished you had more time for reading, this app is a wonderful starting point.
• Babbel
is a language learning app – if you’re dreaming of the day you’ll be able to go on your next holiday, why not try learning the language in readiness? There are 14 languages to choose from including German, French, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Turkish, Russian and Indonesian.
