4 Tips for Entrepreneurs to Get Noticed on LinkedIn

Eazi-Apps Support • 8 September 2017

LinkedIn has become an increasingly important social media and networking tool for businesses and entrepreneurs alike – used as a tool for forging new business partnerships, reputation management and getting hired. However it’s still misunderstood by many, who haven’t yet worked out how to make the best of this valuable platform. How do you ensure your profile yields the results you want? Here are our top tips for standing out on LinkedIn:

  • Optimise your profile

This is the ideal starting point for getting the best out of LinkedIn, and getting noticed in both the long and short term. Screen your profile carefully for crucial areas such as your current and former work and other valuable professional experiences, and check all job titles are representative of your true role and responsibilities. Don’t be overly wordy, and be careful with your choice of language, but give a taster of your accomplishments and how you brought value to each prior and current position.

  • Understand what LinkedIn is for

A well-optimised LinkedIn profile provides a valuable marketing tool for your entrepreneurial talents, and demands a significant investment of time and effort to get right. Many mistakenly view their LinkedIn as little more than an online resume, but its potential runs far deeper than that – used correctly, LinkedIn can be useful as a sales tool as well, capable of showing off your credentials and your capabilities as a professional far more readily than a CV ever could. Think of it as weaving a narrative for your work, rather than simply a list of achievements and former employment.

  • Ask your network for references

Adding a reference (or several) to your profile helps to solidify the information presented within your profile, by providing first-hand accounts of your working processes. This is a great way to ensure the highest levels of both professionalism and people skills are portrayed – both valuable skills in the entrepreneurial world.

  • Become a regular poster

Writing posts on LinkedIn helps to drive engagement and positions you as a thought-leader in your field, further reaffirming your capabilities as an entrepreneur. Share regular updates, blog posts and news intended to either inspire your network or give genuine insight and value to those who subscribe to your posts. This helps to create a real buzz around your output, and also generates shares which will expand your reach far beyond your immediate circle.
