2018 content trends to know right now

Content marketing is the cornerstone of any digital activity. It’s essential for generating new leads, converting prospects into customers, building credibility and optimising your search presence.

If you’ve just taken up an app business opportunity with Eazi-Apps, we’re here to help you hit the ground running with our pick of 2018’s most useful new content trends to know right now. Start building these into your marketing efforts and see your app business begin the New Year at the head of the pack.

Trend 1: Expect customers to demand more meaningful and more useful content

Most of us know that content is king – and that means brands are pumping out more of it than ever before. However, in 2018, there will be more of an emphasis on creating content that actually serves a purpose and makes a difference to the reader.

Most consumers expect brands to create content but, 60% of that content is simply clutter according to the latest Meaningful Brands report. That means customers can easily live without it and are likely to be unimpressed by it.

To make your app agency really stand out from the crowd, create content that makes a difference. That means crafting blog posts, videos and podcasts that serve a purpose – such as entertainment, information, education or instruction. The more help and value you can add to your customers, the better regarded your app development business will be.

Trend 2: Mix it up

Content is about creativity and, just as you most likely don’t want to always eat the same dinner night after night, customers also don’t want to consume the same content week after week. We therefore predict that one of 2018’s biggest content marketing trends is going to be mixing it up. This is done really easily, doesn’t have to cost you any more money and doesn’t even have to take any more time.

So, how can you mix it up? If you regularly write a standard blog post, try introducing listicles (top 5 ways to, the best 7 tips for…). These are easily digestible and great for reading on the go, such as via a mobile device. You could turn a presentation into a SlideShare or, instead of a standard text post, create an image gallery.

Trend 3: Try different formats

Much like trend two, this one is all about doing things a little differently to add value to your audience and present your content in new, more useful ways. Content doesn’t always have to be text-based. Why not add more images into your posts? Or, turn one of your new listicle-style posts into an infographic. If you’ve written a how to post, why not record it as a video or a podcast?

Use different formats to keep your content marketing interesting and reach different segments of your audience. You might even find you generate more word of mouth buzz, links and social media shares by opening up your content to those who don’t get along so well with big chunks of text but love to listen to a podcast on their morning commute or watch a video at the gym.
